Workshop

Bookbinding is the oldest method of documentation. These methods are defined by how the papers, called leaves, are stitched and glue together. For this workshop, we will discover the art of Coptic bookbinding with a soft cover.

We will explore the whole process of making a book, from understanding the basic tools needed to the finished product. Firstly, you will get an introduction to bookbinding tools. These must be used cautiously, so it is important to know how and when to use them.

Then we will look at the materials we will use to make the book, and how to prepare them for the process. Once you learn the basic steps of how to use your tools and how to prepare your materials, you will then be able to explore other forms of bookbinding.
